The cable stitch is said to resemble the fishermans ropes and brings hope for a fruitful catch. The ladder of life pattern also featured in this aran blanket signifies the various stages of life. It is said it resembles the pilgrims path to salvation. The honeycomb my favourite is said to bring luck and it also represents hard work.
